Although online social networking makes lives easier and lighter, there are some aspects about social networking that could harm teens.

Costs can be considered as a minor setback in joining social networking. Although there are lots of free social networking sites, there are also some that requires payment to be able to join. Online dating is one of the things that teens (or also adults) usually do. This is heedlessly exploited in the internet as some online dating sites ask for payment. Some consider the cost to be worth their monies as they eventually find partners via social networking. However, the assurance of good results is not stable regardless of how much you have paid for it.

Aside from the cost, there is a more significant issue that remains to be unsecured in online social networking - safety. The wonder of social networking has been ill-treated by others as it can hide one’s true identity, which subsequently results into a more serious concern. Anybody can post a fake photo or invent a profile that can be used to lure others. This can eventually lead to disappointment or the worst, into some unsettling acts. Several cases of abuse and murder are found to have rooted from online social networking sites when parties agree to meet despite the fact that they are not yet formally acquainted with each other.

The above mentioned disadvantages of social networking sites might give you a time to ponder.
